On Saturday, 26 October 2019, a European Cadet Circuit competition took place in Klagenfurt.
Eva Figelj competed among the cadet women. Unfortunately she didn't win a bout in her pool and finished 177th.
Among the boys, as many as 5 of our fencers competed in a field of 213 épée fencers!
Jakob Pavlin and Viktor Štrumbelj did best, each winning 3 bouts in their pools! Unfortunately, both lost their first elimination bout. Viktor finished 133rd and Jakob 139th.
Lars Ponikvar won two bouts in his pool, which unfortunately wasn't enough – he was just below the cut-off line separating those who continue from those who don't – and he finished 165th.
Brin Božič won one bout in his pool. Unfortunately that wasn't enough to continue, and he finished 189th.
Bernard Baler didn't manage a win in his pool and finished 202nd.
The next day, Lars, Brin and Viktor also competed in the team event, which drew as many as 36 teams! They had a bye in the first elimination round and then fenced against Austria's first team, losing 45:29. They finished 25th.
Our coaches Eva and Gaja also refereed at the competition.
