This year's European Cadet and Junior Championships in Naples are over, and the last members of the Slovenian team from our club have returned home. Today the individual events for junior women's épée and junior men's sabre and foil took place. The championships close with the junior team events, in which Slovenia unfortunately does not compete.
Nika Korošec, the last of the SK Ljubljana representatives to fence, finished her first European Junior Championships without a win in one of the toughest pools. She fought determined bouts against Europe's best épée fencers, including the top seed, who went on to win the gold medal. Nika placed 93rd. Leon Svit Černjak took to the piste on Monday and, after close bouts against the European elite, had to admit defeat. With one win in his pool he finished the European Junior Championships in 90th place.

We congratulate our members Nika, Leon, Jurij and Vito, as well as all the other Slovenian competitors at the championships, on their wholehearted fencing. We wish them success in their next competitions and the motivation for hard work in training, which will surely bring new results.
Special congratulations to Vito, the only Slovenian competitor to make it through both the pool and the first elimination rounds. His 42nd place in cadet men's épée was the best Slovenian result at this year's European Cadet and Junior Championships.
