Last weekend our boys were on the road again!
Maks, Leon and Jon P. travelled to Udine, Italy, to compete at an Italian regional Grand Prix.
Maks Krivec Križ competed in the younger category, Maschietti and Giovanissimi (born 2008 and 2009). He won 3 bouts and lost 2 in his pool, ranking 8th.
Then came the eliminations. Maks fenced cleverly and didn't rush, proving that slow and steady wins the race: he won three elimination bouts and reached the final. Unfortunately he fell just short and lost the bout, finishing an excellent 2nd!
Leon Svit Černjak and Jon Ponikvar competed in the Allievi and Ragazzi category (born 2006 and 2007).
Leon won 4 bouts and lost 1 in his pool and, like Maks, was ranked 8th after the preliminary round. He then won two elimination bouts before losing the third, finishing 7th.
Jon won 2 bouts and lost 3 in his pool, ranking 19th after the preliminary round. He won his first elimination bout but unfortunately not the second, finishing 15th.
Meanwhile, the cadets travelled to Budapest to compete at an EFC tournament.
Viktor Štrumbelj and Lars Ponikvar each won only one bout in their pools, and unfortunately Bernard Baler didn't win any. So all three finished the tournament after the preliminary round, as they didn't qualify for the elimination stage. Viktor finished 271st, Lars 295th and Bernard 309th.
