On Saturday, 19 January 2019, the national cadet, junior and student fencing championships took place in Velenje. 9 of our fencers took part, with 13 entries in total.
Lars, Brin, Viktor and Bernard competed in cadet men's épée. Viktor did best, fencing very well and finishing 3rd! Bernard made the top 8, and Lars and Brin also fenced good bouts and gained experience in the older category, which they will move up to next season.
Eva and Nika fenced in cadet women's épée. It was Nika's very first competition; unfortunately she didn't get past the pools, but she gained valuable experience for future competitions. Eva made the top 8.
Later, Eva also competed among the junior women and improved on that result, finishing an excellent 3rd!
Bernard, Viktor and Dominik competed in junior men's épée. Bernard and Viktor made the top 8, and Dominik finished 9th.
Dominik then also competed in junior men's sabre. It was his first time fencing sabre, yet he still won a bout in his pool!
Miha competed among the student men and finished 6th.
Eva competed among the student women and finished 1st.
We are very proud of all our fencers – they fenced well and, above all, have made great progress over the past year! :)
